Exmoor National Park covers 265 square miles, and remains as wild and beautiful as in the days of R D Blackmore’s Lorna Doone. On the moor the red deer and wild ponies roam free, and with a lattice work of bridal paths, it is a haven for ramblers and horse riders. Lynmouth is also an ideal base from which to tour, with many major attractions within a couple of hours drive.
The
village of Lynmouth has a thatched pub, The Rising Sun, several hotels and
restaurants. There is the oldest working water-operated cliff railway,
linking Lynmouth to Lynton with its many eating places. A railway line is
also opening from Woody Bay! Visit the Valley of the Rocks with its spectacular rock formations and views of the sea. Here you will see herds of the famous wild goats that roam over the rocks. |

You can take a safari in a 4-wheel drive vehicle and discover Exmoor's rich history. The major surfing beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde on the northwest tip of Devon are only a 45 minutes drive away. Surfers can take advantage of last minute special savers for short breaks when the surf is up! You are also just a few miles away from Somerset and can visit Minehead and Dulverton.

Climate North Devon enjoys a mild climate with many palm trees, and fuchsias flowering throughout the year. Getting to Lynmouth [EX35 6EQ] |
BY CAR The quickest and easiest route to Lynmouth is via the M5 leaving the motorway at junction 27 and taking the A361, the North Devon Link road towards Barnstaple. After passing the roundabouts for Tiverton and South Molton, turn right onto the A399, signposted Combe Martin, Ilfracombe, Lynton and Lynmouth. Then turn off on the A39 at Blackmoor Gate signposted to Lynton and Lynmouth. Turn left at Barbrook to Lynmouth then proceed down the steep hill. Turn left onto Riverside Road which leads into the Esplanade. Harbour Point is right on the apex of Riverside Road and the Esplanade, with its entrance just to the right hand side of the shop, Aladdins Cave.
